Originally, the plateau of Madagascar was densely forested on hundred of thousands of kilometers. But the demand for wood and annual fires destroyed the forest. Today, the plateau is an arid grassland with hardly any trees. Miraculously, a tiny remnant of the forest of 33 hectares has survived in Ankafobe. Naturefund now wants to protect this forest, build fire patrols and help the local people to reforest their land with the Dynamic Agroforestry.
